Gold Tone’s WL-250 White Ladye open back banjo
is the mainstay of the WL series. White Ladye banjos are a continuation of the White Ladyie tradition that began in 1901. One of the first openback banjos made to handle steel strings. Today, Gold Tone’s White Ladye is still considered a classic design, with the same peghead shape as the A.C. Fairbanks models of the past. It delivers a bright tone with plenty of volume, and a few modern improvements to add to the pleasure of owning one of these modern classics.
Tradition has not been left out! Important features like bone nut. An accurate replica of the vintage and highly sought after 3-part White Ladye tone ring coupled with a 1/2 inch rim for maximum air chamber volume, maple neck with ebony fretboard and vintage AC Fairbanks heel shape, steel Gold Tone banjo strings (.010, .024w, .016, .013), notched brass tension hoop (with modern chrome plating for a durable finish, maple bridge with ebony cap, and the sought after clear, bright tone the White Ladyie banjos were always known for.
Improvements such as an adjustable truss rod in the neck to add stability and adjustability to the neck relief. GT Master Geared planetary tuners, Remo Renaissance banjo head for old timey tone without the disadvantages of calf skins. No-knot tailpiece, dual coordinator rods for easy string action adjustment, genuine celluloid neck binding and lovely Mother of Pearl white cloud inlays, and scooped fretboard for improved clawhammer action.
