The Gold Tone GM-6+ is a deluxe acoustic/electric guitar-mandolin designed for every guitarist.
This is where Gold Tone really sets their own stage. Alternative instruments like this are what they do better than anybody. You’ll appreciate their design and construction quality.
Technically, this is an octave guitar with the timbre of a mandolin. The octave guitar is in the pitch range of the mandolin, so equipping this guitar with a mandolin body not only looks correct, but it truly turns the octave guitar into a different sounding instrument altogether.
The mandolin tones provide new musical possibilities with a Gold Tone folkternative instrument like this.
Played soft or loud, it holds its own. And if you wanted to boost the volume, the passive internal pickup system works wonderfully well, too. It is tuned one octave higher than a guitar, EADGBE. It can provide the chop rhythm for bluegrass or country music as well as easily carrying leads and backup of your own design. Mandolin skills are not needed since this is actually a half scale guitar with real mandolin tone. The GM-6+ has a loud and percussive tone due to its all solid-wood construction and hand-rubbed oil finish. The intonated bridge improves tuning and the cast tailpiece increases sustain. A unique L.R. Baggs transducer pickup sandwiched in the bridge provides an awesome electric sound capturing an accurate reproduction of its acoustic quality.
