Description

The BG-140 from Blueridge

features the famous slope-shoulder design made famous throughout the 1950’s and is still a favorite among many players and vintage instrument collectors. This guitar’s characteristic short scale and large lower bout made from solid mahogany produce a guitar with an incredibly warm, deep tone and unmatched playability.

Solid sitka spruce top with lovely sunburst finish, solid mahogany back and sides with copper finish, scalloped bracing under the top, short scale neck.. all the features that defined the big American J-series guitars of the ’50s. This gives the carachteristic clean highs and mellow yet pronounced lows for a very clean, well defined sound.

Many people feel that the sound from these slope shoulder guitars have the depth of tone as a dreadnought (a guitar with more square shoulders), yet does not have as much of the “booming” going on that is sometimes not desired by some musicians. Music is of course very subjective. So there’s a guitar for everyone. WIth a guitar like this the music can be more mellow however retaining  the deep tone with that big lower bout without so much of the booming resonance due to the smaller shoulder area.

  • Solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped braces gives you clean articulation and a crisp tone

  • Solid mahogany back and sides for robust, warm resonance

  • Slim mahogany neck offers fast, easy action and inherently long-lasting stability

  • Choice East Indian rosewood fingerboard ensures silky smooth playability

  • Gold-plated 14:1 Gotoh tuners are smooth and precise to always keep you in tune

  • Recommended cases: C-1510, CD-1510

The suggested retail price for the BG-140 guitar is $1,060.00 But you won’t pay that much here at Beyond Guitars. This design has two incarnations from Blueridge. The BG-140 (here) has a Sitka top and Mahogany sides and back, where the BG-160 is virtually the same guitar but made from sitka and Rosewood, and is slightly more expensive due to the more expensive rosewood. Our stock is variable but you should see a link for this guitar below. And don’t hesitate to drop us an E-mail if you have any questions about either of these wonderful guitars.

This guitar qualifies for our 14-day money back guarantee!

Don’t forget to add a case or gig bag to your purchase. This guitar does not automatically come with a case. Might we suggest the best, the CD-1510 deluxe plywood core case with green plush lining from Superior, with premium features and made for this guitar. There is an elegant tweed option as well as others which are shown below.
